I. Approval of Minutes
II. Action Items
A. HIDOE submission for variances
- discussion of waiver day dates led by Chad Okamoto
- dates include August 1(2016), October 7 (2016), February 3 (2017), March 10 (2017)
- All in favor, none opposed
B. Financial Plan (by Chad Okamoto)
- Projected 2016-2017 Enrollment: 750 students, up from 700 students
- Increase in enrollment will require additional 2 teacher positions and 2 classroom spaces; total 31 teachers
- Option A: displace SPED teachers from large classes into smaller spaces. Inclusion model of SPED integration.
- Option B: use currently allocated classrooms and increase class size in upper grades. Yearly requests for portables have produced no result
- Start of Response to Intervention (RTI) process will require additional Part-Time Teacher positions and/or full time teacher positions.
- Increase in enrollment will require additional 2 teacher positions and 2 classroom spaces; total 31 teachers
III. New Business
A. SCC members replacement (we are missing members now)
- led by Stephen Fox
- adding a section to allow the principal to add members, and also a section for student representatives to the SCC handbook
B. Bullying - what might we do about an uptick?
- PLC Classes (Professional Learning Communities) - Matt Dillon discussed protocol with awareness and prevention on campus
- gave a handout on "Total Number of Verified Offenses" to view, and shared the results
- Student representative shared her thoughts on her bullying experiences from last year and this year
- stated that most kids feel scared to report it if they are being bullied
- Mrs. Stafford brought up the idea of communicating what bullying actually is (Brain Pop has videos on bullying)
C. Rotation activities - how do we evaluate their success?
- Chad Okamoto said there is nothing in place now, where they are monitoring the classes, but no data to provide
- focus is on reading
IV. Continuing business
A. Schedule of meetings and establishing communication processes
- scheduling for the rest of this school year
- 4th Mondays of every month @5:30pm ( January 25, February 22, March 11 - community meeting w/ PTSA Movie Night @5:30pm before movie, April 25, May 23)
- will be added on to the Agenda in March
- Stephen Fox will email minutes
V. Announcements
- Emily Stafford brought up concerns from a report from students
- short shorts length (dress code)
- water choice instead of milk
- a class had an idea to have a snack shop, or spirit store on campus
- signage around campus to remind parents about safe driving, no bullying,
- making a poster contest
- having top classes based on attendance getting a prize
