UNIFORMS
The Pu`u Kukui School Community Council (SCC) has begun exploration of school uniforms for students. The school uniform would be a t-shirt sold at an approximate cost of $7.00/shirt. Waivers would be available for children whose parents have religious and/or other reasons for not wearing a school uniform. A creative schedule would be an alternative to mandating wear at all times. (e.g. uniforms M-Th choices on F, uniforms for field trips only, etc.)
The SCC process for implementing school uniforms would require the submission of a waiver in March, 2014, to allow for a policy that is not a current requirement of our State Department of Education to be implemented. This would mean that any policy adopted would not begin until the 2014-2015 school year at the earliest.
We are currently seeking your input prior to adopting a policy. We are hoping to get input from each student (1), family (1), and staff member (1) as well as our community.
Please complete our online survey by 2-21-14.
The results are in! We received 335 responses to the survey. Here's a breakdown of the responses.
